Keshi Lets Nigerian Team Down

Nigeria are finally expected to do big things at the World Cup 2014, but manager Stephen Keshi has thrown a major bombshell by saying that he does not still know which players will be making it into the final squad for the competition. Nigeria are going through their best phase in the last 20 years since the team has a lot of quality and most of the players are young. The presence of players like Victor Moses and John obi Mikel helped the nation lift the African cup of nations for the first time in more than two decades. They are looking to build on the success by doing well at the World Cup.

However, with just less than 80 days to go before the competition, Keshi has dropped a bombshell by saying that he has not yet decided on the players who will be included in the squad. He says that players who have been on the fringes of first-team still have an opportunity to impress between now and the end of April. Nigeria will have a couple of matches to fine tune their squad before the World Cup. This includes a friendly against the USA, who are one of the participating teams at the World Cup. Nigeria’s first match at the competition will be a match against Iran.

"Every position is still open and everybody has to fight to earn his place in the squad. There are no automatic shirts. The list won't be out now. When it is released, it will be made available to you all. It won't be a secret thing. I was happy when I saw Mikel come in against Arsenal. He was looking trim and fit. It will be our last friendly and good tune up for us before the tournament," said Keshi.
